Andrew Ranville (b. 1981 in Michigan, United States, lives and works in London, UK since 2006) received his MFA from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2008. His installations, sculptures, photographs and films explore ideas related to site-specificity as well as the viewers interaction with the work. He is part of the Trace artist collective, an international group of former Slade School artists based in United Kingdom.
Ranville’s work has been exhibited internationally and his site-specific installations remain or were featured in various countries including Australia, China, Finland, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States. His work has been published in various arts magazines and journals. Ranville’s work attempts to describe a personal form of psychogeographic study– the relation of one’s own body to the space it inhabits, interacts with, and navigates. His work aims to trigger the recognition of a new path or vantage point, a potential movement, or the viewers’ acknowledgment of something as simple as their feet touching the ground.
